Looks like u got an accompany :)
That bird hung around for hours—a true friend!
Wonder who will get the first fish :)
I think the man won, but it was a close thing—those birds were not afraid, and quite aggressive!
The funny thing about that bird is that he chased away all the other birds–only HE (she?) could be allowed to accompany the fisherman! :-)
That’s an aspect of friendship too…
Nice note of surprise in the picture. Wasn’t quite expecting to see a heron.
I am glad it worked :-)
A brave bird!
Nothing to be afraid of—they were friends! ;-)

very, very cool!!!
Thanks, Stephen!
The great blue heron! Love it! (But perhaps the feathered friend might take the meal away from its human friend?)
Not take away! I think he was willing to share…
Very cool!!

The anticipation is palpable! I would have to wait till the fish is reeled in to decide whether they are friends or not :-)
An excellent point! :-)
Beautiful shot. :)
Thanks, Rois!
I totally LOVE your contribution!!! The Heron is such a cool bird and this shot is hilarious! *big like* :)
Thanks so much, Reb!! While all participants were entirely serious, it was such a comic scene :-)
Wonderful touch!
So glad you like it!
The heron, man’s best friend. Love it :)
The heron is man’s best friend? That will be news to many… ;-)
Dogs will be really upset :)
great capture!
Thanks!
love it!
:-)
Creative interpretation – brilliant :)
Thanks, bluebee!
wonderful photo, and what an idea … maybe that bird is hoping for a share of the catch! thank you for the pingback vladimir :)
The bird is most definitely hoping for a share of the catch! :-)

It seems like I can’t get within a mile of a GBH with my camera, and this guy has one for a fishing buddy? No fair, no fair at all!
I sympathize!
You need to go to Florida. The birds were pretty bold and even aggressive, hanging around every fisherman hoping to seize any scraps
Showing me that is just mean :-D
Seriously, Florida (on the Gulf coast) is a paradise for bird photographers. This spring I was there for three days and took hundreds of pictures, mostly of birds. I’ve already posted some (e.g., here and here) but still have to sort through and post the rest.
wonderful shot
Thanks, Amar!
Beautiful.
Thanks, Imelda!

Good shot!
I was looking for a shot where they were talking to each other, but didn’t get one. I guess fishing is a silent pastime…
That’s still a pretty good one. Didn’t realize they were so tame. I guess, anything in New York has to be pretty impervious to humans!
This was actually in Florida… They were not so much tame as bold, having learned that they could come close with impunity to a fisherman intent on fishing ;-)

lovely shot!
Glad you like it!
a wonderful humorous response to this week’s topic!
I had to try something different…
Beautifully awesome!!
Thanks, Jennifer!
So true – to be able to share moments in silence is a gift!
When you are fishing, it’s more like hours in silence, I notice ;-)
Yes, you have to be a dedicated friend to go fishing, if you aren’t a fisherman at heart yourself! (or bring an iPod!) ;-)
…….hoping for a treat from the human friend
Ideally, to let his human friend do his job for him, then grab the product ;-)
Wow, thank you for including my blog here :)
Your photo is great and touching…
You are welcome, and thank you!

Oh, friendship with a hidden agenda ;-)
Not all that hidden, really :-)
what a magic moment…and such a great image of the two of them
Thanks, Jo!
I bet that’s the best fishing friend anyone could have! Thanks for the pinback Vladimir!
Certainly—you can tell him all your best fish stories and he never contradicts you!

Hopefully they got some fish!
Now that you mention it, I was there for almost an hour taking pictures, and I didn’t see them catch a single fish. But that is the essence of fishing, as I understand it… ;-)
I hope they were still friends the day after…
Thanks for the pingback. :) Nice shot you got there. :)
You are welcome, and thanks!
beautiful shot!
Thank you!
Very cool pic! Did he share the catch?
Bad Link, updated: (sorry about that)
I don’t know—that other link was pretty interesting! ;-)
:) That is my other site. But not my blog. Just started the blog.
Thanks!
I was there for an hour and they didn’t catch anything. What do you expect? That’s what fishing is!
Fab photo!
Thanks! :-)
