Vladimir Brezina (RIP)
... kayaked the waters around New York for more than 15 years in his red Feathercraft folding kayak. He was originally from (the former) Czechoslovakia and lived in the U.K. and California before settling down in New York. He was a neuroscientist at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He died in 2016.Johna Till Johnson
... is a kayaker and technology researcher at Nemertes Research. She's an erstwhile engineer, particle physicist, and science fiction writer. She was born in California and has lived in Italy, Norway, Hawaii, and a few other places. She currently resides in New York City.Recent Comments

Love this, Vlad; I’m always an admirer of Fibonacci in nature. The pattern in Hurricane Sandy satellite photos was hard to miss too.

I really like this…like many of the other posters in this week’s challenge I opted for a straight line/angular take of geometry but while do some work int he garden this afternoon, it occurred to me that there is as much geometry in nature as there is in things man-made so I might do a Take 2 as well…

Cool processing!! This guy was still alive, yes? Or recently alive – still has the covering – operculum I think it’s called? And that too has a tiny spiral. You really made this picture glow.

Actually, although I didn’t look closely, I assumed it was just an empty shell. Something about the way it was lying unnaturally all by itself on a broad, rather sterile sandy beach, where also the gulls would have made short work of it… Sorry to disappoint!
