oh my goodness, i cannot figure out which ones i like most.. they are all stunning! thank you for sharing all of these! Z
Thank you so much, Z! :-)
Beautiful images of a beautiful city!
Thank you…
Stunning …
Thanks, Alastair!
Magical images. :)
:-)
Fantastic! I like the photos and I wish I can visit N.Y. next year to see the skylines by myself!
And there are much more spectacular ones than this! This just happens to be the one we’ve got…
Great photos, as usual, and you know, I could almost have fooled myself I was looking at the Sydney Harbour Bridge with its fantastic spans, except the sun was in the wrong spot!
There’s an excellent reason for that! The design of the Sydney Harbour Bridge was heavily based on that of the Hell Gate Bridge… see also Johna’s story here.
Well fancy that, I’m not going crazy after all. Amazing, I never knew that..cheers
Now THAT’s what I miss (of numerous things) about living high up in an apartment! They all have that “oh come and see this” effect…
Yes :-) I’ve been to people’s apartments where you just can’t tear yourself away from the window…
You have some really incredible shots here!! Fantastic job!
Thanks!!
Excellent! The city at night — a grand theme if there ever was one — plus a bonus — the city at dawn — equally terrific. And all from your abode? Way coooool!!
Well, most of these were taken from the roof of the building, a number of floors above our abode, but yes :-)
oh my. i almost wept to tears to see how beautiful you capture the city. love them. :)
Thank you… :-)
Vlad you will appreciate this — http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50134920n&tag=api&fb_action_ids=4980413190786&fb_action_types=og.recommends&fb_ref=belowVideo&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map=%7B%224980413190786%22%3A110820845747671%7D&action_type_map=%7B%224980413190786%22%3A%22og.recommends%22%7D&action_ref_map=%7B%224980413190786%22%3A%22belowVideo%22%7D
Very interesting—thanks, Frank! The way he stitches together all those scenes that catch his eye reminds me of one of those medieval or Renaissance paintings where many little scenes unfold simultaneously
but he explicitly adds the passage of time, as night turns into day… :-)
Frank – that was way cool! Thanks for sharing it!
New York, New York!! Incredibly beautiful.
Thanks, Amy!
such different views to what I get to see – cityscapes and light shows but compelling all the same.
It’s what we’ve got ;-)
Fantastic set of pictures, you two. They give a great sense of your Manhatten neighborhood.
Quite a contrast to the Pacific Northwest, isn’t it?
It is quite a contrast. We live on a small island and are surrounded by forest, not a neighbor in sight. But I’ve always been as urban as I’ve been rural, so both landscapes give me equal measure of enjoyment.
Both urban and rural—that’s very unusual. You are lucky!
The second picture is BEAUTIFUL! Wow! Seriously jealous of your view! :)
Yes, the view over the East River and Hell Gate is the reason why we picked this apartment…
Beautiful!
Thank you, Jennifer! :-)
Intensely beautiful, Vlad – I love the play of deep blue and golden-orange in the last few shots.
A bit exaggerated, strictly speaking, but that’s how it felt…
Photos are magnificent! I was especially struck by the two early morning photos. I never get up then (if I can help it) but know because I’m told by early-rising friends that it is the best part of the day. I never believed that. But your photos may push me toward it —
It is an effort. But do try it sometime! ;-)
There is an award for you on my blog.

Thanks so much, Sylvia! We are honored indeed, and we’ll be passing those stars along in due course… :-)
Beautiful. Stunning. I can go on but I’ll stop at: one of the best sets of photos in the WordPress blogosphere!
That’s high praise indeed! Thank you so much!!
So sensitive! If I was there, I’d have cried! Here in Brazil we have an amazing sunset and sunrise, but sometimes we are too busy to stop a little and admire what the nature give to us!!!! At the Arpoador beach, the sunset/sunrise is so phenomenal that we we always applaud it!
Applause is a nice custom! And it encourages an encore the next day ;-)
the light this time of year is the best, and you’ve captured that beauty well!!
Sunset especially are wonderfully colored in fall and winter… Thanks, Will!
You have so many wonderful comments – all I can add is WOW! And thanks!
Nancy
