Lovely photos of reflection, and a very unusual, but colorful duck or goose.
Not sure whether it was a duck or a goose, or some other exotic waterfowl… it was in the Zoo here, so definitely not a common local bird…
Really striking!
Thanks, Naomi!
love the last photo and i wonder what type of duck is that? it has nice colors.
Not sure what type unfortunately—didn’t make a note of it. It was in the Zoo, so some exotic import…
Great photos… and yes all reflections are distortions to some degree!
Yes, I was looking for distortions for this post…
Natural phenomena, really can’t beat it. These photos are just naturally beautiful :)
Thanks, Allyson!
Great selection!
Thank you, Terri!
Like the twin smoke stacks!
:-)
I find the duck to look very self-possessed, even more so in his reflection.
Reflections sometimes look better than the real thing… :-)
Love the distortions :)
:-) Especially the top one!
I love these reflections and that bird. I have never seen one like that.
Neither have I, in the wild. It was some exotic import in the Zoo…

Really love the top shot.
Yes, the reflection is bizarre…
Beautiful photos!
Thank you!
Very nice photographs.
Thanks so much!

Distorted, but yet perfect reflections. Nice!
Thanks! :-)
That’s not a reflection: It’s a big upside down duck stuck to the bottom of Johna’s boat looking at her.
I never noticed that before… the duck is much bigger, but Johna should win as there are three of her against the one duck…

The duck appears to be a Spectacled Eider, an adult male in breeding colors (Dec-June). It’s a medium-sized sea duck that’s found in Alaska and other cold places way up north. Did you see this in the Central Park Zoo?
Thanks so much for that identification, Beth!! Much appreciated. It does indeed appear to be a Spectacled Eider, based on the photos on Google. Yes, it was in the Central Park Zoo.
These are amazing shots!
Glad you like them—thank you!!
