He was originally from (the former) Czechoslovakia and lived in the U.K. and California before settling down in New York. He was a neuroscientist at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He died in 2016.Johna Till Johnson

I love these – Japanese Magnolia? Is that right? The one from my childhood was always nipped by frost but sometimes it was glorious for a long time! Thank you for the memory!

The magnolias had hardly arrived when some of them were cut short by the freak April snowfall a week or so ago—the last gasp of winter! Now it’s really spring :-)
