At first I wasn’t quite sure how successful “Texture” would be as a theme, but it’s turning out to be one of the best of Ailsa’s themes, in my opinion. Here are some of the dramatic and subtle Textures that other photographers have come up with:

For a day or so… then the snow gets dirty but still hangs around for days, sometimes in odd corners for weeks…

:-) Actually, when there is a lot of snow it doesn’t feel that cold—all that insulation, and usually the sun comes out as well the day after a big storm…

I think it has been used as a Christmas card, actually—not my photo, but similar photos taken by others. I would expect that many NYC photographers have such a photo. There’s an obvious place to take this photo from, so you just have to get there at the right time after a snowfall—as well as arrange the right illumination, of course ;-)

I love looking at snow pictures and these are beautiful, but I don’t think I could live in a cold climate now I am so used to the tropics

I seem to be going in the opposite direction—I am finding tropical heat, which we seem to be getting even in NYC quite often now, harder and harder to take…

I have to say I really love the second one.-….I went also to your Picasa page..As I can not write my comments there I would like to say I love one of the latest pics…The one with a lot of little birds on a fence!!!

:-) The day after a snowfall is certainly a good time to take photos of birds, as they congregate in certain spots where people are feeding them…

The last photo is absolutely STUNNING. I have only seen two big snows where I live. They were just as beautiful. What a lovely challenge. I adore texture.

I´ve visited New York and strolled around Central Park but there was no snow when we were there. My favourite photo you have posted is the last one. It´s wonderful how people are walking through the snowy avenue of trees. Stunning shot, Vladimir – well done!
