Ailsa‘s Travel-Themed Photo Challenge this week is White, to mark today’s International Day of Peace.
I don’t have any photos of white doves (or peacocks), but this seems very appropriate:

Flowers for peace, any day, Vlad :)

Most of my flower photos are red, however…

Um … roses and things? A romantic, are you, Vlad?

Romantic? But of course…
No roses, however. It’s mostly that amaryllis that flowers every year—still trying to get a really good picture of the flowers. I get one chance a year… ;-)

Ah! I first saw Amaryllis in New York, when I was there for a month while we performed at City Center – I was blown away till many, many years later I found Mum growing them in the ground in her garden in Queensland, dozens, we had, from reds to pinks, and white – the most beautiful white :) You need the sun on the petals to bring out that lustrous light emitting glow … :)

Exactly! The petals are iridescent, almost metallic…

I’ll look forward to your endeavours in March, is that when the first hothouse pots are released?

Actually, this is a plant that we already have, so we just have to wait for it… Its flowering is a bit erratic because I haven’t really followed the proper treatment to force it to flower reliably each year at the same time…

Oh well … we’ll just have to wait till it’s ready, then. :)

Actually, I already posted some white photos for your last challenge. Should have saved them… Maybe you can let us know the upcoming themes a few weeks ahead? ;-)

Haha, yes, those would have worked perfectly too, Vlad. I would give you insider information about upcoming themes if I knew them myself, but I usually sit down in front of the computer and go ‘right, what will I write about this week?’ ;)

I totally know how that is! Blogging is putting out fires, one deadline after another, working your fingers to the bone, barely scratching out a living… ;-)

Was the second picture a macro shot? Beautiful flower pictures, Vlad!

No, not macro, just an ordinary telephoto… that’s why it’s not completely in focus…
