Spring has finally sprung in New York City. But we’ll miss it this year. We are far away, about to embark on an exciting (hopefully not too exciting!) week-long kayak trip. No Internet, so Wind Against Current will be unattended for a while… Watch this space when we return!
Fortunately, I took a few photos of New York’s spring before we left…
Looks so pretty. I hope there are still some trees in bloom when I’m in NYC next week! I always seem to miss Central Park in bloom.

On our return this past weekend, there were still plenty of fruit trees in bloom or even still to come into bloom, so you will have plenty to look at. But the petals of the earliest-blooming trees already lie scattered everywhere on the ground like white snow…

Although I grew up in New York, I don’t remember it ever looking as floral as in these photographs. You’ve turned it into a fantasy land.

In turning it into fantasy land, I am only being realistic. New York is what you make it…
These photos were taken during those few days in the spring when the fruit trees were already blossoming, but most other trees were still bare, providing a strong contrast. Now, of course, the park is lush with fresh green leaves everywhere…
