... kayaked the waters around New York for more than 15 years in his red Feathercraft folding kayak. He was originally from (the former) Czechoslovakia and lived in the U.K. and California before settling down in New York. He was a neuroscientist at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He died in 2016.Johna Till Johnson
... is a kayaker and technology researcher at Nemertes Research. She's an erstwhile engineer, particle physicist, and science fiction writer. She was born in California and has lived in Italy, Norway, Hawaii, and a few other places. She currently resides in New York City.Recent Comments

I looked at your photo – thought I know that place – surely there’s not another very similar place in the States and then read, yes, it IS Cromer. As I live in Norfolk I should recognise it – my goodness you actual were there when the sun came out! You were very lucky or, I wonder, have you lived in the area?

My mother used to live in Leicester, and she liked the sea. Whenever I visited her, we used to take a drive out to the North Sea, usually along a substantial part of the coast of Norfolk, before heading back to Leicester. So I’ve visited your part of the world many times.
Yes, my impression of the North Sea is mostly like this (which actually I like quite a bit), but occasionally the sun did shine… :-)

Yep – just looked at your pics of the North Sea and that’s about the usual greyness. I have to admit that I prefer the North Sea during the winter especially when it is so foggy you can hear it before you see it.
Bit of trek from Leicester, but I suppose that’s my small island mentality – just a walk in the park for folks like you used to kayaking round Florida.
