Weekly Photo Challenge: Letters

By Vladimir Brezina

This week’s Photo Challenge is Letters.

Now there‘s a letter than makes sure it will be seen—

IMGP5220 cropped small 2

The Columbia “C”, Spuyten Duyvil, New York City.

And this is not the only letter that we encounter kayaking through the harbor…

  1. I can ‘C’ it so clearly! :)

  2. The photo is even better with the reflection in the water. I’m happy that the pingback tiles are changing color this week. Now if the links in the comments would do the same and the two would be linked… :-)

    • Thanks, Janet!

Yes, the pingback tiles now work pretty well, while the comments are still frustrating. Actually, the two are already linked by the usual mechanism, a cookie left on your computer when you follow either link. You can see that in the fact that if you follow the link in a comment, the corresponding pingback tile, if there is one, turns color. Unfortunately the link in the comment does not.

  14. To me the ‘C’ stands for cold and the size is an indication of how cold the water is. Cool picture. :)

  15. Really cool picture, and it’s the orange jacket on the kayaker that makes it!

By the “C”, by the “C”, by the beautiful sea…. or something like that. This is a great photo and the reflection really sells it.

    • The Columbia “C” is in Spuyten Duyvil, which is a short creek—now canal—at the northern end of Manhattan that connects the Harlem River to the Hudson. We pass through Spuyten Duyvil, and the “C”, every time we paddle around Manhattan, so I have many photos of it. But this photo is from our last trip, just last weekend.

  22. Now that’s a heavyweight letter! I’m entranced by your journey. I’m in the middle of reading Without a Paddle by Warren Richey. It’s about sea kayaking around Florida and life, a trip with heart. Check it out~ http://www.warrenrichey.com

    • Actually, we do know about Warren Richey (although we haven’t read his book yet) since he is one of the most prominent WaterTribers. Unfortunately we didn’t get to meet him since he couldn’t be there for this year’s Everglades Challenge…
