A Summer Evening In Central Park

By Johna Till Johnson

A sweltering Sunday evening calls for a walk in the park…

Central Park silhouette

After a brief cloudburst, the sun emerges from the clouds, lighting up the flowers…

Flower

And setting the raindrops on the leaves to sparkling…

Raindrops and flowers

The skies darken..

Twilight

The lights come on, reminding me of an iconic children’s story…

Narnia in summertime…

… And the last of the light catches the retreating thunderheads.

Clouds

Thank you! And I don’t mind the heat much. AC during the day, and in the morning and evening… well, it’s late July. It’s SUPPOSED to feel that way!

      Hi Pamela,

Sorry for the long delay. I aim to be back up and running on a regular schedule shortly… the good news is that I’ve been spending so much time actually paddling. The bad news is I’ve got a years backlog of stories to tell!

Glad you love the pictures! I’m surprising myself at times…

  6. It’s been so, so long since I’ve seen Central Park – 8 years? Anyway, this is delightful. I’m sorry it’s been so hot, and hope your power stayed on, and stays on! I thought of you recently when i finally had my first taste of Kayaking. We did a brief 1.5 hr tour at Deception Pass State Park on Fidalgo island, a few minutes from where I live now, and though the water was unusually choppy, it was great. Renewed admiration for your strength!! :-)
