... kayaked the waters around New York for more than 15 years in his red Feathercraft folding kayak. He was originally from (the former) Czechoslovakia and lived in the U.K. and California before settling down in New York. He was a neuroscientist at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He died in 2016.Johna Till Johnson
... is a kayaker and technology researcher at Nemertes Research. She's an erstwhile engineer, particle physicist, and science fiction writer. She was born in California and has lived in Italy, Norway, Hawaii, and a few other places. She currently resides in New York City.Recent Comments

It’s NYC, Manhattan, taken in 2010, when there was still no World Trade Center tower: there’s clearly an important piece missing from the skyline…

Looks as if Mary Celeste might suddenly appear on the horizon. This shot (minus the bit on the right) sets my imagination afloat – and now I think of it, have you and Johna come across any unexplained ‘apparitions’ on your travels?

We’ve seen quite a few, but the problem with apparitions is that they immediately disappear when you try to take a photograph :-)
On the 2014 Everglades Challenge we did become very familiar with hallucinations…

For Stonehenge you have to get up early, but for Manhattanhenge you just have to get up by sunset—much more our style in the big city :-)
