This week’s Photo Challenge is Spring! (a little behind the curve as far as Wind Against Current is concerned: see here and here), and Ailsa’s travel-themed photo challenge is Close-up.
In our patch of Central Park, we know Spring has surely arrived when we notice the first insects flitting from flower to flower—
These photos are from mid-March of 2012—an early Spring that year! This year, the crocuses have long gone, and we haven’t seen any insects yet…
Another Spring Close-up is here.

Ailsa’s travel-themed photo challenge this week is Pink.
In NYC’s Central Park not so long ago, pink was an artificial color.
But very soon now, it will grow on every tree—
These photos were taken in April 2013. Hopefully, a preview of coming attractions!
Another classic NYC event, later on in June, at which pink is surely the ruling color is here.

Ailsa’s travel-themed photo challenge this week is Delicate.
I wanted to come up with a Fall photo, but “Delicate” keeps suggesting Spring…
… and we do have readers in the southern hemisphere :-)

This week’s Photo Challenge is The Golden Hour.
Most obviously, the golden hour brings with it the golden light of the rising or setting sun itself, as in my first two posts, here and here. But the real glory of the golden hour is the soft glow with which it lights up every object it still reaches, briefly between the lengthening shadows…
All in Central Park, New York City.

Spring has finally sprung in New York City. But we’ll miss it this year. We are far away, about to embark on an exciting (hopefully not too exciting!) week-long kayak trip. No Internet, so Wind Against Current will be unattended for a while… Watch this space when we return!
Fortunately, I took a few photos of New York’s spring before we left…

Ailsa‘s Travel-Themed Photo Challenge this week is White, to mark today’s International Day of Peace.
I don’t have any photos of white doves (or peacocks), but this seems very appropriate:
More photos are here.
