This morning we passed the Solstice of December 21, 2012, otherwise known as 13.0.0.0.0, and we can be cautiously optimistic—I am, on the whole, an optimist—that the world as we know it will continue…
So it seems safe to wish everyone a Happy Winter (or Summer, as it may be) and Festive Holidays!
And safe to respond to Ailsa’s photo challenge, which this week, very appropriately, is Festive—
... has kayaked the waters around New York for over a decade in his red Feathercraft folding kayak. He comes originally from (the former) Czechoslovakia and has lived in the U.K. and California before settling down in New York. He is a neuroscientist at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.
... is a kayaker and technology researcher at Nemertes Research. She's an erstwhile engineer, particle physicist, and science fiction writer. She was born in California and has lived in Italy, Norway, Hawaii, and a few other places. She currently resides in New York City.
I’m very glad the world didn’t end today, Vlad – I was tempted to open my Christmas pressies a bit early just in case ;)
Also, you might have received something to help survive the end ;-)

Hey! Thanks for sharing the trick of Photoshop, this is what I always told my pals,Photoshop is the best in the Galaxy ( haha! just my view)! Anyway, the art work is so well done and certainly carry artistic value!
Thanks, Sydney! I don’t use Photoshop all that much—it’s easy to overuse it for photos that should be more or less realistic—but for special effects and occasions, like this one, it has everything!
