Vladimir Brezina (RIP)
... kayaked the waters around New York for more than 15 years in his red Feathercraft folding kayak. He was originally from (the former) Czechoslovakia and lived in the U.K. and California before settling down in New York. He was a neuroscientist at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He died in 2016.
Johna Till Johnson
... is a kayaker and technology researcher at Nemertes Research. She's an erstwhile engineer, particle physicist, and science fiction writer. She was born in California and has lived in Italy, Norway, Hawaii, and a few other places. She currently resides in New York City.

This is amazing. This is wonderful. We have a boat graveyard near me in NW England and it’s a place I never tire of visiting.

You know I love seeing this! Memories of good old Staten Island, roaming around and finding one crazy sight after another. One day these boats will be gone altogether, so it’s good that you keep documenting them.

There used to be a huge graveyard full of old WWII destroyers and battleships up on the Hudson. Do you know if it is still there? It was a long time ago, so maybe they’ve junked all those ships by now.

You probably mean the fleet of merchant ships mothballed as part of the National Defense Reserve Fleet:
All long gone now. They were there from 1946 until the last ships were towed away in 1971.
