This week’s Photo Challenge is A Day in My Life.

Last Saturday, toward evening, I took a walk through NYC’s Central Park.

First I visited our patch of ground. And on that patch, which we had picked for being so unremarkable, a crop of colorful crocuses had sprung up…

Last week’s snowstorm was surely the last gasp of winter. On Saturday, the remnants of the snow were vanishing in the warm sunshine, the first flowers were peeping out from under last year’s dead leaves, and everyone was out in Central Park. I was there too with my camera (not my cell phone)…

Spring Blossoms Catch the Evening Light

Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough,
And stands about the woodland ride

OK, the cherry blossoms are already mostly over at Easter in this remarkably early Spring. But there were still plenty of trees in bloom, or with the first tender green leaves just appearing, as I walked out with my camera a few days ago at sunset …

Happy Spring!

The Spring Equinox occurred early this morning. We are now officially—although it’s felt like it already for weeks—into Spring!

Here’s a preview of coming attractions. These photos were taken in New York’s Central Park in 2007… in late April. This year we’ll probably see these fruit trees bloom in a week or two—almost a month earlier!

Spring Has Sprung, Seemingly

Contrary to the Groundhog’s prediction (he is right only 39% of the time, after all), the season seem to be well advanced into Spring.

In New York City, temperatures are reaching into the 60s or even 70s each day. Crocuses and daffodils are out, two or three weeks earlier than usual. Even some fruit trees are beginning to flower in Central Park. Nobody expects Winter to come back any more.
