Ever seen a shark?

Perhaps once or twice a fin, that’s all—although plenty of sharks live in NY Harbor. They just stay close to the bottom. But we do see other interesting marine creatures…

Just knowing you from the photo challenges, I would expect this type of picture for this challenge. :-) What a great background you found!

Yes! When not actually tied up at the pier, the NYC fireboats seem to spend most of their time in this kind of activity, welcoming cruise ships and providing festivity for special occasions—we passed them under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge at the start of the 2011 NY City Marathon—sometimes even spewing colored water :-)

Is that the Statue of Liberty in the background? What a lively photo!

That is indeed the Statue. She’s hard to avoid seeing across the harbor, although from a distance she can look surprisingly small…

great shot. Makes me want to go there.

And you can! Although perhaps not precisely there, without a boat ;-)

They don’t let you get too close. On this occasion we got the impression that they were getting a bit nervous…
